Year 12 is one of the most demanding years a student will face: exams, assessments, subject pressures — and on top of all of that, the expectation that students also research universities, understand how UAC works, write personal statements, and figure out what they actually want to do with their lives.

How Olympus Supports HSC Students in Term 2
Trials are in July – August. But, pre-trials for some schools are around the corner!!
That means right now — in the first weeks of Term 2 — is the most important window for HSC students to get the right support in place.
At Olympus, we match students with tutors who have been through the HSC with their own unique lives, challenges and triumpfs.
Not just people who know the content, but mentors who understand the pressure, how to juggle all the other parts of their lives that they love and who know what it takes to perform under exam conditions. These are tutors who will build a genuine relationship with your child.
In Term 2, our HSC tutors are focused on:
- Addressing gaps identified in Term 1 assessment results — now that marks are back, students know exactly where they need help
- Building exam technique — structuring responses, managing time, and practising past HSC questions
- Maintaining momentum — keeping students consistent and focused across the 10 weeks before trials
- Supporting subject decisions — if your child is weighing up whether to stay in Maths Advanced or English Advanced, a good tutor can help them make the right call and succeed at whichever level they choose
Spots for Term 2 are filling. If your child doesn’t have a tutor yet, now is the time — not June.
Beyond the Textbook: University Applications and Career Direction
There is another layer of pressure that many Year 12 students carry quietly: not knowing what comes next.
Which course is right for me? What does my ATAR need to be? Can I get an early offer? What if my results aren’t what I hoped?

Tertiary Pathways Advisor, Justine Shlom, is a careers educator with more than 10 years of experience helping students navigate the path from school to university and beyond. Justine holds a Bachelor of Education and Master of Education from UNSW, as well as a Postgraduate Certificate in Career Education from ACU.
Her approach is practical and focused: everything is completed within the session, so students leave with their applications progressed, their questions answered, and their head clear to focus on studying.

Why Term 2 Is the Right Time to Do This
UAC applications are already open — they opened on 8 April. The Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS), which can result in a university offer before HSC exams even begin, closes on 11 September.
Getting UAC sorted in Term 2 means your child goes into Term 3 and 4 — the most intense study period — without the added weight of unfinished applications hanging over them.
